Four habits of great prompts
- 01Lead with the subject
Say who is in the frame and what they’re doing first, then add setting and detail — the model will focus on what matters.
- 02Describe the light
Words like “soft morning light”, “backlit silhouette” or “neon side light” dramatically improve texture and mood.
- 03Name the lens and composition
Photography terms like “overhead shot”, “85mm portrait”, “symmetrical composition” or “negative space” control the structure of the image.
- 04Say what to keep when editing
With a reference image, write “keep everything else unchanged” and describe only the part you want to change.
